Adjustments to LEED
USGBC has announced several changes to its LEED Rating System, version 2.1.

EPA Planning IAQ Label for Homes
EPA plans to launch a pilot indoor air quality label for homes by this winter. Program criteria were developed in coordination with the American Lung Association Health House initiative. As envisioned, this will be a separate label from Energy Star Homes, but only Energy Star Homes will be eligible to carry the IAQ label.

EPA Revises List of Persistent, Bioaccumulative Toxins
EPA has revised a 1998 draft list of PBTs--among the most dangerous known chemicals. Only 4 chemicals were added to the list, while 25 were dropped.

New On-Demand Hot-Water Recirculation System from Taco
A second water recirculation system, from Taco, joins a similar product from ACT Metlund. To avoid wasting water while waiting for hot water to reach a distant faucet or shower, a small pump shunts water in the pipe back to the water heater, while delivering hot water very quickly. Both systems offer significant water and energy savings.
