Civano:
Is the Debate Over This Project Sustainable?

Civano is a master-planned community designed for over 2,500 homes, light industry, offices, and retail businesses with commercial, cultural, and civic activity clustered in a village core such that half the population and two-thirds of the jobs will be within a five-minute walk of the town’s center. With a Grand Opening in April of this year, Civano currently consists of about 50 occupied homes (over 120 sold), 16 model homes, an active Neighborhood Center consisting of several commercial and retail businesses, a solar-heated community pool and tennis court, and two larger businesses—a solar panel production facility and a retail nursery.
