Milwaukee Introduces Tools With Greener Batteries

Wisconsin-based power-tool manufacturer Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation introduced its new V28 line of portable power tools with 28-volt lithium-ion batteries at the International Builders’ Show in January 2005. Most portable power tools today use nickel-cadmium (NiCad) batteries, which contain the toxic heavy metal cadmium. Nickel-metal-hydride batteries have been considered a promising alternative to NiCad batteries for power tools but have not caught on because of their higher cost and poor performance in cold weather.
