Master Painters Institute Launches Green Standard

Over the past few years, the Master Painters Institute, Inc. (MPI) has become the authoritative source on paint performance in North America. Based in Burnaby, British Columbia, MPI is a small for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Master Painters and Decorators Association—both organizations are run by MPI president Barry Law. Several branches of the U.S. government have chosen to cite MPI standards instead of updating older federal standards. More recently, the American Institute of Architect’s MasterSpec® began referencing MPI standards as its primary performance specification for paint. With its new Green Performance™ Standard, MPI hopes to become equally influential in the green building world.
