Two Reports Laud Green Schools
Two recent reports on green schools support the premise that environmentally responsible design and construction strategies bolster the health and performance of students and faculty. The first report, from the National Academies’ National Research Council (NRC), based in Washington, D.C., has been released in prepublication form. It calls for more research on the links between green schools and the health and learning ability of their occupants and suggests specific strategies to improve the performance of schools in this area. The second report lays out the financial performance of green schools compared with their conventional counterparts. It was written by Greg Kats and published by his firm, Capital E, also based in Washington, D.C.
