Full Line of Residential LED Lighting Arrives

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs), based on semiconductor technology, have become the lighting technology of choice in outdoor signs, screens, traffic signals, and indicator lamps on vehicles and appliances. Until recently, however, high cost and product development obstacles have kept LEDs out of the residential lighting market. That may be about to change: in June 2006 Permlight Products, Inc., an LED systems development company, and Progress Lighting, North America’s leading supplier of residential light fixtures, announced a complete line of residential LED lighting products. To be sold as the HI-EF™ line, the licensing of Permlight’s Enbryten Down line promises high-efficacy luminaires that meet strict California energy standards.
