The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) has become a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). Founded in 1981 as the Passive Solar Industries Council, SBIC has been a leading advocate of a high-performance, whole-building approach to sustainability. SBIC programs such as the Beyond Green high-performance building awards will continue under NIBS, and SBIC membership and publications will also be maintained.
