This 30-acre (12-ha) artificial lake near Phoenix, Arizona, features what was for a decade the tallest fountain in the world, at up to 562 feet (171 meters), driven by three 600-horsepower (450-kW) pumps. Average yearly rainfall in the area is about eight inches (200 mm).
