Green Product Sub-category: Facility Storm Drainage

Siphonic roof drain systems are particularly appropriate for large, low buildings such as office complexes, transportation centers, malls, factories, and warehouses. During rainfall events, siphonic roof drain installations employ full-bore flow to the sewer network or other outlet—unlike conventional roof drain systems that require a high volume of air in the pipes. As a result, fewer and smaller pipes are needed for siphonic systems; and they are capable of long, slopeless, vertical runs, mitigating the excavation typically needed to accommodate conventional roof drainage.

These systems must be designed and sized appropriately. Rainfall events below the design threshold may result in vibration and noise, which can be a potential consideration.

These systems are common in many countries, but have only recently been introduced in the U.S.
