Walkscore.com uses GoogleMaps and business listings to calculate the "walkability" of a given location. Designed for real-estate professionals and homebuyers, the tool assesses a given location's proximity to shops, restaurants, and public amenities and assigns a score on a 100-point scale (the higher the better). The site's creators freely admit to its biggest limitation: the site does not account for proximity to public transportation, which has a big impact on pedestrian mobility. Listings of accessible points of interest are not entirely accurate due to lack of on-the-ground knowledge.
