This excellent study of both new and old communities that work in Florida focuses on land use, transportation, housing, and environment. It explains the state-endorsed voluntary guidelines for good development. The case studies were chosen on the criteria of market success, shopping and recreational opportunities, environmental themes, "affordable" housing with amenities, road connections, and street life. Four checklists comprise the bulk of the book, each well illustrated, explained, and extensively footnoted.
