November 02 - 04, 2009 - Edmonton, AB Canada
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is pleased to present True Stories: Sustainability in Action EQuilibrium™ Housing Forum and 2009 Research Conference — the premier event providing in-depth information, analysis and discussion on some of the most “sustainable” houses ever built in Canada. • The Forum will be held in Edmonton, Alberta November 2 – 4th, 2009 and focus on sharing lessons learned from the three completed EQuilibrium™ Housing projects in Alberta: the Riverdale NetZero Home in Edmonton, the Avalon Discovery 3 Home and the Laebon CHESS Project, both in Red Deer and the Mill Creek NetZero home in Edmonton, the first post-EQuilibrium™ project by the Riverdale team. • Attendees will learn true stories directly from the builder teams about the challenges they faced and opportunities they realized in designing and delivering their EQuilibrium™ sustainable housing projects. The Forum program structure will reflect the integrated design process approach that all teams used to develop their projects. Participants will be able to learn from the experience of the EQuilibrium™ Teams and discover what can be done right now to design and build sustainable housing and capitalize on this business opportunity. • Topics will include:—How did they create a net-zero energy EQuilibrium™ home? What challenges did they face? What opportunities did they discover? —What are the benefits for the builder and value to the consumer? —How much did it cost, what did they learn, and what will they do next time? —What are the visitors saying? • Plus, participate in guided tours of the EQuilibrium™ homes with the builder Teams! • What makes this Forum unique is the market focus and holistic scope provided by the integrated design process and house-as-a-system approach of the EQuilibrium™ initiative and projects. EQuilibrium™ integrates healthy housing with passive solar design, ultra energy efficient construction and appliances, and commercially available on-site renewable energy systems designed to produce as much energy as the home uses on an annual basis. The result is homes that address issues such as occupant health and comfort, resource conservation, environmental impact, and affordability, achieving significantly reduced green house gas (GHG) emissions, and low environmental impacts to water, land and air. • Please click here to learn more or register: ENGLISH: http://cmhc.ca/en/inpr/su/eqho/eqhofo/index.cfm FRENCH: http://cmhc.ca/fr/prin/dedu/maeq/fomaeq/index.cfm You can also call 1800-668-242 to register for the conference.
