Summary:

High-performance schools offer an improved learning environment while reducing energy use and operating costs. This can be accomplished through an integrated, whole-building design process and well-defined goals. Wilson recommended that the Committee focus on:

  • Research
  • Education and technology transfer
  • Flow-through support to schools
  • LEED™ for Schools

Federal support in these areas could help the many schools that will be built in the near future to incorporate high-performance features.
