Join with Your Fellow Changemakers in Sustainable Design

You are invited to join BuildingGreen and your sustainable design peers for our annual Summit, July 15-17, 2024 on Bainbridge Island, WA. We’ll spend two full days at IslandWood networking, learning, sharing, and socializing with one another as we explore our visions for sustainability leadership in the field. 

The Program: Our Summit will include high-level, whole group collaborations balanced with intense breakouts, explorations and five-minute presentations. The agenda will be set by the participants using an online crowdsourcing tool. Topics we explored in 2023 Summits included: structuring sustainability teams within firms, leveraging the framework for design excellence, designing for a changing climate, energy/carbon metrics, embodied carbon, options for better materials, cold climate electrification, and advocacy priorities.

The Location: IslandWood’s Bainbridge Island Campus in Washington (a 35-minute ferry ride from Seattle).

There will also be an optional All-Peer Networks Workshop in Seattle on July 15, ending at 3:00pm so you’ll have time to catch the ferry to Bainbridge Island. Registration: Participation is for SDL Peer Network members only, and space is limited. If you are not yet a network member, you must first complete an application. You can purchase a membership and register for the Summit after your application has been approved.

Summit registration is now closed. If you would like to be placed on a waitlist in case a shared or private room opens up at IslandWood, please email amanda@buildinggreen.com. 

Pre-Summit Survey: A survey will be shared via a crowdsourcing platform with all attendees before the Summit. The results of this survey will help inform specific roundtable discussion topics during the Summit.

Lodging: Some participants will be staying on-site at IslandWood while others will be staying off-site and commuting in. All meals will be provided on-site. If you are registered with a commuter ticket and have not yet booked a place to stay, below are a few local lodging options suggested by IslandWood:

If you travel just over the bridge from Bainbridge into Poulsbo, another option is the Clearwater Casino resort. It's about 15 minutes away.
