Alex Wilson has been the conscience of the green building products industry since 1992, when he founded Environmental Building News. In 1996, he founded the GreenSpec directory, which now lists over 2,000 green building products, each one vetted by an independent editorial team at BuildingGreen, which does not take advertising from manufacturers.
The recent Greenbuild conference and expo in Phoenix featured 1,100 exhibitors spread over 11.5 acres in two exhibit halls, only two full days to take it all in, and a massive amount of hype.
Somehow Alex Wilson managed to comb through it all to come home with over three dozen products that were particularly exciting. Many of these went immediately into the GreenSpec directory. He also shared his research in the feature article of the January 2010 Environmental Building News.
“Even though I’ve been researching and writing about green building products for 20-odd years, I’m still always excited to learn about the new stuff coming out,” Alex says. “Greenbuild has become the leading place to see what’s new.”
