Ecological Design in the Built Environment Class

August 30, 2009 - Warren, VT

Through lectures, seminars, field trips, and a design charrette, students will hear various perspectives – from designers, builders, owners, facility managers, developers, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and residents – on ecological design and construction. Study of siting, energy, materials, water, envelope and systems design will prepare students to create zero net-energy, healthy, comfortable living spaces that are integrated with the environment they depend upon. Students will learn basic drawing, drafting and modeling skills that may be employed in whole systems approaches to environmental design and construction of buildings and communities at any scale.
