Elizabeth Waters
As the managing editor at BuildingGreen, Elizabeth oversees the day-to-day operations of the editorial department and writes and edits content for publications. As sustainability consultant, she leads components of consulting work related to sustainable strategy, organizational change, socially responsible practices, and stakeholder engagement. Between her two roles, she provides links between the consulting and editorial teams to support cohesive advancement of BuildingGreen's portfolio.
Elizabeth joined BuildingGreen in early 2023 with a background in sustainability management and a love of writing. She holds a B.A. in environmental studies from Hamilton College, where she also focused on women’s studies, writing, and studio art. Soon after graduation, Elizabeth embarked upon a career in the craft beer industry, eventually working as the sustainability manager at a regional brewery in Boulder, Colorado. With the understanding that the well-being of people is at the heart of sustainability, she designed that program—and now approaches her work at BuildingGreen—with equity, inclusion, and justice at its center. Elizabeth strives to continually challenge her assumptions, learn, listen, and build trusting and supportive relationships.
She lives with her partner and cat, Eloise, in Avon, Colorado, where she loves spending time outside, reading, and finding new ways to be creative.
