Elizabeth Waters

Associate Editor & Sustainability Consultant

As the editorial associate at BuildingGreen, Elizabeth works within the editorial team to write and edit content for publications. She hopes to help members of the green building community and the general public stay informed about and encourage positive change within the building industry.

Elizabeth joined BuildingGreen in early 2023 with a background in sustainability management and a love of writing. She holds a B.A. in environmental studies from Hamilton College, where she also focused on women’s studies, writing, and studio art. Soon after graduation, Elizabeth embarked upon a career in the craft beer industry, working first as a bartender and then as the sustainability manager at a regional brewery in Boulder, Colorado. With the understanding that the well-being of people is at the heart of sustainability, she designed the program with equity, inclusion, and justice at its center. In her work, Elizabeth strives to continually challenge her assumptions, learn, listen, and build trusting and supportive relationships.

Elizabeth is fascinated with how business practices and the built environment intersect to affect human health, social equity, and the environment. She looks forward to delving deeper into these topics (and writing about them!) at BuildingGreen. Elizabeth lives with her partner and cat in Avon, Colorado. She loves spending time outside, reading, and finding new ways to be creative.
