Non-default Historical Occupancy Rate for Hotel Project

Non-default Historical Occupancy Rate for Hotel Project

January 17, 2017

I am working on a hotel project that has historical occupancy rates of 80%, which is higher than the LEED default rate of 60%. Has anyone ever successfully used historical hotel occupancy rates in lieu of the LEED default, and if so what documentation must be provided?

New to LEED Submitals

New to LEED Submitals

January 16, 2017

I have a mill-work submittal that requests :
LEED Submittals:
1. Product Data showing VOC content does not exceed 30 g/L for wood adhesives and
80 g/L for contact adhesives.
2. Product Data showing that wood contains no added urea-formaldehyde resins.
MILLWORK SECTION 06 22 00
ADW-14012 06 22 00 - 2
3. Product Data showing recycled content both post consumer and pre consumer (as
calculated by LEED Credit MRc4 requirements). Provide the total cost of the material as
well as the total cost of the material that can contribute to LEED Credit MRc4.
4. Product Data showing the distance from the project site that the raw materials were
extracted and the distance from the project site that the final manufacturing took place (as
calculated by LEED Credit MRc5 requirements). Provide the total cost of the material as
well as the total cost of the material that can contribute to LEED Credit MRc5
5. Certificates for Credit MR 7: Chain-of-custody certificates certifying that products
specified to be made from certified wood comply with forest certification requirements.
Include evidence that mill is certified for chain of custody by an FSC-accredited certification
body.
a. Include statement indicating costs for each certified wood product.

Being new to this, this all seems quite daunting. A little guidance would go a long way.

Review Team structure

Review Team structure

January 12, 2017

I've always been curious how exactly the "Review Teams" are put together and function. Are there literally teams of people who always work together on projects, or do the teams changed: for example, there are individuals who are always tasked to work on certain credit categories, not certain projects? Do the teams work in the same physical location, or are they spread across the U.S. /World? Anyone out there has some insight to the inner workings of the Review process?

Appealing an EP

Appealing an EP

December 22, 2016

We had one of 3 EP's denied during our final review. We actually had earned EP's in more than 3 credit categories, but the LEED Online platform would only allowed us to submit 3 ID credits for exemplary performance . My question is should we have to pay an Appeal fee to claim a 3rd EP point for a credit that has already been awarded, or should we simply request it be awarded by emailing GBCI?

preliminary design review - chiller - Baseline

preliminary design review - chiller - Baseline

December 13, 2016

Hi,

I would like you to ask for helping me with one LEED issue. We were doing energy model and we have received comments to our model, which one of them is this one:

8. Table 1.4.8 indicates that the Baseline model includes two screw chillers; however, the Baseline model must include at least two equally sized centrifugal chillers, as required by Table G3.1.3.7, since the building peak cooling load is greater than 600 tons (2,551 kW), as indicated in Table 1.4.8. Revise the Baseline model to include at least two equally sized centrifugal chillers. In addition, ensure that the efficiency of each centrifugal chiller is based on the autosized cooling capacity of each chiller using Table 6.8.1C (6.1 COP). Furthermore, update Table 1.4.8 reflecting the changes.

I don´t understand the fact ,, ...since the building peak cooling load is greater than 600 tons (2,551 kW), as indicated in Table 1.4.8. ...''. When I look at our Table 1.4.8., there is no 2551 kW but 1874 kW (total chiller capacity). Could you help me, how I should understand this comment and solve the problem. I really don´t know what to do with it.

Thank you in advance,
Jana Paulechova

Addition to Existing Leed EBOM Building

Addition to Existing Leed EBOM Building

December 12, 2016

Forgive me if this has been answered, I searched all over and can't find a definitive answer.

We're kicking off a major expansion to a facility that is already LEED Silver under the EBOM rating system. What affect will this have on their existing LEED Rating? Do we need to go through a LEED NC certification process for the new part of the building?

Thanks!

LEED compliant Drywall

LEED compliant Drywall

December 8, 2016

I'm trying to search out some LEED compliant drywall for the material and resources credit, (homes v4). Needs to be either 25% post consumer recycled product or 50% pre consumer recycled product.
Although I have found compliant materials further east, I'm not finding anything available so far on the west coast. Can anyone help me out on that?
Thank You.

Substantial Completion, C of O, TCO

Substantial Completion, C of O, TCO

December 1, 2016

Per the LEED certification Policy – we can submit construction review at Substantial Completion (defined as the date on which the building receives a Certificate of Occupancy or similar official indication that it is fit and ready for use.) Is a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) an acceptable milestone at which to submit for construction review?

Campus Thermal Energy Plant Submission

Forum discussion

Campus Thermal Energy Plant Submission

November 22, 2016

Hi. We have LEED Campus Development with 2 LEED projects inside. Let's call it "Development F" and "Development A". Development F is housing the thermal energy plant, hence exception for option 2 is applicable. We have run simulation on both option and the savings are not eligible for both options.
Under opt. 1: Development F achieves 6% and Development A achieves 9%
Under opt. 2: Development F achieves 18% and Development A achieves 20%
How we should address this situation? Since we can't fit at both options
