I am wondering how architectural firms plan to close the gap to zero in the next few years.

Owner's dictate outcomes and the typical owner is not committed to zero - even when sustainability is a focus of the project.

We can present solar-ready designs, all electric buildings, geothermal, etc. but there is still quite a gap to... Read more

Hi folks!

Do you have examples or case studies of projects with compelling examples of circularity/salvaged material reuse? We’re looking to go beyond the examples we've seen of furniture reuse or creating art from salvaged material, and we’d like to collect some examples to get our client excited about the possibilities in a deep... Hi everyone -

The State of Oregon just posted this Policy Analyst Job Posting. The position is specifically looking for someone to assist in embodied carbon and other sustainable code items. I have heard directly from Oregon's Building Code Division that even though the position is looking for public policy, an architect or engineer (or... Read more

Dear all,

For a specific existing building application, we are looking for a half inch insulating glazing unit, preferably with low-e coating. Based on my research, 5/8" seems to be doable (1/8" glass + 3/8" air gap + 1/8" glass) but I'm yet to find a viable 1/2" solution. Have you come across any on your projects? Thanks for your... We've been doing some work gathering actual energy data on our recent projects. (In January we actually issued a report on 21 public buildings ).

One of the biggest issues is getting access to the actual data - many clients don't want to share.

Has anyone crafted proposal or contract language allowing/requiring design team... Read more

I know many of your firms do landscape design, and I wanted to make sure you were aware of a new and pretty impressive conceptual calculator to estimate the carbon impacts (emissions and sinks) of landscape design.  Developed by Pamela Conrad of CMG Landscape with grant support, Atelier 10 and an app developer, the tool allows you... Hi Gurus!

This query just came from GSA via the Large Firm Roundtable. It seems that one way we can help is simply to route this to the best concrete and asphalt suppliers we know of, so they can respond.

Can you pass on some information to the large firms sustainability roundtable? GSA, and the White House, just announced new... Read more
