At the start of 2021 there was one signatory to the contractors commitment (thanks Leopardo!). Today, there are 12 companies participating, representing over $24 Billion in total revenue.
We don’t always give ourselves enough credit or take enough time to savor our accomplishments because there is always more to do. But, this is a big... Read more

World: There is no way we can shut down in order to lower emissions, slow climate change and protect the environment.
Mother Nature: Here's a virus. Practice.
Who is measuring the positive environmental impact our actions are having on the environment?
For example, there have been reductions in air pollution. If the... Read more

Has anyone heard of floating solar technology? I can't think of an application other than covering power plant retention or agricultural waste lagoons. Covering up the sun on a natural body of water and adding electrical wiring seems like a bad idea. I am curious though if others have heard of this technology and have other (unbiased) ideas... This might be going down a rabbit hole, but in moving to California this year I noticed that "zero net energy" (ZNE) is the standard term, whereas "net zero energy" (NZE) was more common back east. The DOE's 2015 definition (below) uses "zero energy building" (ZEB), which to me implies a building uses no energy at all.

Hi all,
GBD turns 50 this year! I would like to share some examples with leadership of how we can make it more than just an event for clients... something that can give back, engage the public, focus on sustainability, etc. I remember that a Seattle firm had an awesome event that engaged a public plaza, etc. I had read something about it... We're looking to add a green wall to our existing offices in NYC. Can anyone please share any good product/vendor recommendations?
We were hoping to use Naava walls, but they seem to have retracted into Europe, as far as I can tell.

I was recently asked if there is a way to quantify financially what one MT eCO2 might be worth in the context of a building owner reducing their own carbon emissions. How do you put a dollar value on those reductions? Does anyone have experience with that or can you point me to the correct resource to answer this question?

Hi Green Gurus!
We’ve gotten GREAT feedback and input from many of you via the survey about our planned fall events. You expressed a lot of interest in all the events we proposed: a series of in-depth Integrative Design Jams, separate Summits for SDL and SCL, and regional all-network workshops, starting with one in Boston—so we’re moving... Hey Gurus. This type of academic facility is so relatively new, the program doesn't fall into the typical "College/University" building type from ... Read more
