NAHB Announces 2006 Green Building Awards

Elevation 314, a 68,000 ft2 (6,320 m2), mixed-use building in the Takoma neighborhood of Washington, D.C., was named Multifamily Home Design of the Year in the NAHB Green Building Awards.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced the 2006 winners of its annual National Green Building Awards during its Green Building Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “As consumers show greater interest in homes that employ energy efficiency, resource conservation, and sustainable building, these experts help expand green building from a niche market by giving prominence to housing affordability,” says Ray Tonjes, a custom homebuilder in Austin, Texas, and current chair of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee. “What our winners bring to traditional construction is a better knowledge of green building science so that all homebuilders and home buyers can benefit.”

•Ron Jones, owner of Sierra Custom Builders in Placitas, New Mexico, was named

Builder Advocate of the Year for his work in green building, including as charter chair of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee.

•Bill Asdal, of Asdal Builders, LLC, in Chester, New Jersey, was named

Remodeler Advocate of the Year.

•Jennifer Languell, Ph.D., of Trifecta Construction Solutions in Naples, Florida, was named

Individual Advocate of the Year.

•Washington, D.C.’s

Sustainable Buildings Industry Council was named

Group Advocate of the Year.

•Pardee Homes, headquartered in Los Angeles, was named

Production Home Builder of the Year.

•SunTerra Homes, Inc., in Bend, Oregon, was named

Custom Home Builder of the Year.

•Yavapai College, in Prescott, Arizona, won

Single-Family Research Home of the Year.

•Anderson Sargent Custom Builder, LP, in Waxahachie, Texas, won

Single-Family Concept Home of the Year.

•Seville Consulting, in Decatur, Georgia, won

Remodeled Home of the Year for a home in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta.

• Hickok Cole Architects, PC, in Washington, D.C., won

Multifamily Home Design of the Year for Elevation 314 in Washington, D.C.

• Lakewood Ranch Realty Company, Inc., in Bradenton, Florida, was awarded

Green Homes Marketing Program of the Year.

• The Wisconsin Environmental Initiative’s

Green Built Home™ program was awarded

Program of the Year.
