USGBC Recognizes Green Building Leaders
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has recognized several green building pioneers with its annual Leadership Awards, presented at the Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Chicago in November 2007.
• In the Community category,EBN advisory board member
Gail Lindsey, FAIA, founder of Design Harmony in Raleigh, North Carolina, was recognized for her role in developing design charrettes for the LEED Rating System.
• The
Aldo Leopold Legacy Center (see
EBN
Vol. 16, No. 11) was recognized in the Education category for its LEED Platinum educational center.
• Responsible for adopting LEED for the construction and maintenance of military facilities at Fort Bragg, North Carolina,
Rob Harris was recognized in the LEED category.
David Eisenberg
David Eisenberg, director of the Development Center for Appropriate Technology (DCAT) of Tucsan, Arizona, and an
EBN advisory board member, was recognized in the Organization Excellence category for his work in bringing environmental issues to building codes.
• In the Research category,
KieranTimberlake Associates was recognized for its integration of research into its design practices.
• For his work on the New York State Green Building Tax Credit and carbon-neutral redevelopment of the World Trade Center site,
Ashok Gupta, director of the Air and Energy Program of the Natural Resources Defense Council, was recognized in the Advocacy category.
