The Story of Stuff

From www.StoryOfStuff.com:
"From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever."

I have been pointing my son and his friends to this video, as we head into the holiday season. It seems to be going over well. I recommend it for teenagers.

I have been a member of this cycle for a long time. In San Diego we have gone to hydraulic lift systems for trash collection so people can put more waste in their trash containers and, in fairness, their recycling bins. I just became certified as an EcoBroker and now I am working on a LEED certification. Boy, are things changing, especially my attitudes. Compact flourescent lightbulbs, an on demand waterheater, photovotaic electricity generation, and a new mantra -reuse, repair, recycle. I will be directing a lot of our clients in the real estate and accounting divisions to this movie. Yes, even your real estate broker and your tax accountant want their children to inherit a planet worth having.
