Vertical-Axis Wind Generator Area Lighting

Posted live from Greenbuild.
At the Selux booth, I'm told that these will be introduced to the market shortly, intended for grid intertie.
Their standalone PV area lighting has been on the market for some time.

I have always been fascinated at the simplicity and aesthetics of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT). The beauty of it is that it overcomes the horizontal wind turbine's pitfall of having too many moving parts that require regular maintenance, since the VAWT is always facing the direction of the wind.

I think all street light, signs, in fact all public lighting should be powered by a combination of small pv panels and a VAWT on top. This combination overcomes the problem with slow airflow or poor sunlight.
