LEED for Homes in Europe

LEED for Homes in Europe

April 30, 2014

We've been working on LEED CS, NC and CI projects in Poland and now we would like to start working with LEED for Homes certification system. We've searched usgbc.com site and information available in the internet and a few things are still a puzzle:
1. There are no Green Raters in Poland, Europe even! Most of them are USA, Canada or Asia based. Do we have to find one that has some specific international qualifications?
2. From what we read it seems that the Green Rater and the Provider Company are supposed to lead the certification and prepare all the documentation, or is it the role of LEED AP with specialty for homes? What is the difference between the Green Rater and LEED AP?
3. What is the difference between Provider and Green Rater, I mean, can it be the same person? There aren't many information about Providers. For me a Provider is a Green Rater's company, or am I wrong?
I will aprreciate all Your suggestions and help!

hotel with cottages

hotel with cottages

April 17, 2014

We are looking at a hotel project (BD&C) that consists of a main building and separate cottages. It is my understanding that the cottages have to be treated as individual buildings since they are not physically connected to the main building. To certify this project, would a campus certification be allowed using BD+C for the hotel and LEED for Homes for the cottages? The cottages are not really residential units but sort of luxury bedrooms with bathroom. Anyone has any suggestions on how to treat this type of development?

Adding credits between preliminary review and final review...

Adding credits between preliminary review and final review...

April 17, 2014

I have read through a fair amount of comments above, but did not see my specific question addressed, so I will pose it:

We are submitting construction phase preliminary review. We are close to the edge of certification, but are holding off on the Green Power credit. If our preliminary review comes back unfavorably, is there any issue with adding a credit for final review?

Thank you.

Campus Fees

Campus Fees

April 17, 2014

Hi,

I`m confused in how to calculate de fees for Campus projects. I have a project with 6 warehouses in the same site (LEED NC 2009). So, when I go to check the fees for Master Site, I have to pay $1,200 for registration (OK!) plus $ 2,000 for each building or overall (this is my doubt)?

I`m a bit confused because if I do this calculation for BD+C fees, the fee will cost $107,000.00 .

I`m not sure if I`m doing it right.

Anyone can help me?

Thanks

group certification - exclude an existing building

group certification - exclude an existing building

April 9, 2014

We are investigating if group certification approach may be suitable for a project that include within the same LEED boundary the following buildings:
- n1 Existing Building (Energy House) that was and will remain only for a mechanical and electrical technical spaces (no FTE and not occupabile spaces).
- n1 New Office Building
- n1 New Conference Building

During the construction activities of the new buildings it is also planned the dismounting and supply and installation of newest mechanical systems and electrical system located inside the existing building.

Question:
May the Existing Building be excluded from the LEED group certification, whilst remaining within the LEED boudary?

thanks in advance

Complex Credit Definition

April 7, 2014

I've clicked on all the links that have been posted in this blog in hopes of finding the list of "complex credits" but I haven't seen anything. The link on the GBCI website is broken. Anyone have the list?

Cannot upload files on LEED scorecard

Cannot upload files on LEED scorecard

April 7, 2014

Two weeks agao, I can upload files easily on the Scorecard. And then all of a sudden, I can't upload documents on Scorecard any more. Everytime, when I open the scorecard, the status become "Form is read-only". I've checked my brower's view compability, it is compatible. And I've downloaded the latest version of Adobe 10.1.9. And I use IE9.

Is there anyone has the similar problems like me for uploading files? Can you help solve it?

Changing the Timeline

Changing the Timeline

April 5, 2014

After uploading an considerable amount of credit data (but not submitted for review), I noticed that the project is set up to have a split review. If I change to a combined review, will that effect any of the data (ie. will it disappear) that has already been uploaded? My gut feeling is, "of course not", but given how "quirky" this site can be, I don't want to take any chances. Anyone out there have experience changing the timeline at this stage of the process? It is a 2009 project, so I'm using LEED OnLine version 3.

LEEDBoundary 100%parking bassement Not all levels to be included

April 3, 2014

CAMPUS: Two office towers designed to meet LEED Core & Shell with three parking bassement levels, the parking structure occupies the 100% of the site, in addition there is a residential tower that will use two levels of the same structure and none of the residential use area will be considered to be LEED certified. Could we let out of the LEED boundary the two parking levels serving the residential tower?
