Group Certification and Showers

Group Certification and Showers

March 31, 2014

Hi,

our project is based on three buildings (A, B and C), with a common basement, dedicated to circulation and parking.

We pursue a group certification.

Showers and changing rooms are located in the basement and shared for the three buildings (showers and changing rooms are located in two adjacent spaces -one for males and one for females-, close to the stairwell of building A, with free access form circulation area.

Questions:

1. Assuming that the distance between Shower & changing rooms and each building's main entrance is less then 200yr, is this solution compliant with the requirement?

2. For WEp1 calculation, in which we have to submit 3 separate forms, one for each building under certification, may we charge the whole number of FTE (related to building s A, B and C) on building A, in order to calculate shower water use?

Thank you.

LEED Certification over a 5 year phased construction schedule

LEED Certification over a 5 year phased construction schedule

March 27, 2014

We're getting ready to register a project (single tenant in a multi story building) under LEED 2009 but the multiple floors/phased project won't be complete for 5 years total. Can we still certify the whole project under one registration? The project will be designed under LEED CI 2009.

Multiple buildings with common basement

Multiple buildings with common basement

March 27, 2014

Hi,

I just want to know your opinion regarding the possibility of applying campus credits on multiple buildings with common basement.

Have any of you experienced certifying this type of development?

The three (3) office tower wants to apply for LEED certification, however the tower shares its basement parking to the podium retail (the tower sits above the retail roof deck). How do you go about this and is the multiple building the best approach?

Appreciate your feedback - thanks.

Purchased Energy Rate

Purchased Energy Rate

March 19, 2014

We are working on a project consisting of several offices and residential buildings, but LEED boundary is considered only one of the office building. There are 4 ground source heat pumps intended to provide heating and cooling for the whole project, which is considered as "upstream equipment". therefore, we are thinking to follow option1 or as an alternative path applying ASHRAE 90.1-2007 addendum ai.

However, I'm confused how to determine the purchased energy rate when the local purchased energy rates is not available. The rates must account for the total costs associated with maintaining the district equipment, and generating and delivering the energy to the project site. Do I need to create another testing model that includes all the buildings outside the LEED boundary to calculate the performance (cost $ /electricity consumption KWh) of the upstream equipment? Or is there any other method to get the rate?

Thanks in advance.

help - still trying to access my project at LEED Online

help - still trying to access my project at LEED Online

March 18, 2014

I am getting absolutely no where with GBCI customer service who will not let me talk to their IT department (tell me - who does that?) - thought I would try here.

Internet Explorer 11 automatically accidentally installed on my system a few weeks ago. LEED online is not compatible with this version, so I uninstalled back to IE10, then IE8 (I have windows - 64 bit).
I can log into my account at LEED online - but the tabs don't work from there - it just keeps me back at the home page. I did all the obvious - compatibility view settings, etc., cleared the browser history, etc. Still no fix.

Has anyone had this problem - what can I do? This problem is not going on 2 days of unbillable time !!!!! Maybe I should have yelled earlier but this is totally unacceptable - I hate to tell my clients not to do LEED because the website is a disaster!

Split review - extend deadline?

Split review - extend deadline?

March 17, 2014

Dear all,

A quick question: I am working on a C&S project - aiming at a split review (construction phase & design phase). Since it's a rather large and complex project, the construction phase will be longer than the 18 months between both reviews (as stated in the certifcation documentation).

One thing we could do: submit the design phase 18 months before substantial completion (months after the actual construction has already started), but that seems a bit strange to not have the review phases run parallel to the actual design and construction phase.

Does anybody know if there are possibilities to extend the 18-month deadline? thanks!

Exactly at silver - can you add points after construction final?

March 13, 2014

Based on my CD review comments and current estimates I am exactly 50 points for silver (2009 NC). If in our final review we miss any points we will not make silver. Our back up is to buy some green power but would like to wait to see if it is necessary. Is is possible to submit for this after the final CD review?

Revisions to design submittal during CD submittal

March 13, 2014

As part of my CD submittal response - that had corrections to my design submittal final - there were files that I was fairly certain I had uploaded but the response was "no new information was submitted". I guess my first question is why didn't anyone ask when reviewing since I submitted it for review? Now that it has been reviewed and denied in Design and in my first CD review can I still submit in my final CD submittal or is appeal required at this time?

LEED Review clarification

LEED Review clarification

March 12, 2014

Quick question that I’m hoping you can help me with. When you submit credits and LEED comes back with a review, is that the first and only review? Or will they come back with comments again after you re-submit the same credit? Just nervous about one credit on a project and wondering if I’ll have another chance at getting it or if I only get one chance to respond with an explanation.
