I think the case studies have been a PR effort on USGBC's behalf to spread the word about LEED buildings that they select for their own reasons.
I thought that scorecards are provided as part of the final review and certification, but I could be wrong...

Nicolaas, I'm glad you started this thread. I see this as an important topic—and is something I covered in depth in an article in Environmental Building News on "Historic Preservation and Green Building."
Are there any particular issues you're having, tips you want to share, or questions you have? Anyone else?

Paul, that sounds correct but I'm not 100% sure. I would check with GBCI.

LEED ND Exam

LEED ND Exam

October 29, 2010

Hello All,

Currently I am studying for the ND exam using the Reference Guide and came across what I think is a rather serious ambiguity. Can someone please confirm for me whether the land-use density calculation DOES actually include "site area parking?" That is to say, I must include the AREA that parking will reside on the site but not, of course the floor area. There are quite a few references throughout that say "exclude portions of parking structures exclusively devoted to parking." But please see page 14, Figure 5, where parking is "buildable" and page 169, end of para 3. I think I need to include the area of site parking in the calculation. What do think?

one more note on Part II....

Going forward, USGBC will require each building to individually meet the energy performance requirement, whereas in the past, averaging was allowed.

LEED-NC

LEED-NC

Billy, this sounds much more like an application for LEED-NC than CI or EBOM. LEED-NC is better equipped to handle the scope of renovation and addition that you're talking about. I'm assuming it won't be occupied during the work? That rules out EBOM. Check out the LEED rating system selection policy for more guidance.

AGMBC 2005 vs 2010

AGMBC 2005 vs 2010

October 27, 2010

Lauren -
Unfortunately, since we are still in the process of making decisions about Part II, no one can say how closely it will resemble the 2005 document. I definitely wouldn't depend on seeing similarities when Part II is published.
However, I will say that Part Ii WILL allow for a single registration for multiple buildings, and that the fundamental rating system requirements (which are different from the submittal requirements) will not change.
Again, many apologies that we don't have more information at this point. We will make announcements as soon as we do.
best,
Cara Mae

RPC in LEED Online

October 27, 2010

Hi everybody

First, thanks to LEED User for this excellent news!

If I understand well, if a project is going for any of these credits mentioned above, it automatically gets a RPC bonus point right ?

Are we supposed to see any change on LEED online (in the scorecards section)? because I am not seeing any ...

Thanks !

George

Unfortunately, if your project is registered under a 2009 rating system, or not yet registered, we do not allow use of the 2005 document. We plan to publish AGMCB Part II in early 2011 - we apologize for the inconvenience! We know that a lot of customers are waiting for this guidance, and are working hard on it.
