Bentley Prince Street Expands Green Options

Bentley Prince Street, a sister company to Interface Flooring Systems, has expanded its options for customers seeking greener carpeting. The company’s Kings Road and New Stratford lines of commercial carpeting are now available with 100% post-industrial 6,6 nylon yarn recovered from automotive-part scrap waste. The products, called Kings RoadRC and New StratfordRC, are available in broadloom or tile and in any of the standard 126 colors as well as custom colors. The company has also introduced a recycled-content carpet backing as an option for all products: Prestige PlusRC (with or without Moisture Guard) includes ReCover, a cushion-backing component made from 100% post-consumer recycled content. The new backing adds tensile strength and dimensional stability to the carpeting, according to the company, and allows for easier removal from adhesive. All Bentley Prince Street products are certified as Environmentally Preferable Products by Scientific Certification Systems, Inc. The company is online at www.bentleyprincestreet.com.

UPDATE (Sept. 9, 2010): Bentley Prince Street (BPS) has informed EBN that its carpeting is not currently available with 100% recycled content in the face fiber, due to the material not being available from its supplier. BPS still offers 45 products with recycled content in the face fiber, and all of its backing options contain post-consumer recycled content.
