Driven by LEED, Steelcase Gets FSC Certification

Thirty percent of the veneer used by Steelcase, is FSC certified—as was the case was before the chain-of-custody certification, the company says. Although Steelcase products have earned several certifications, including Cradle to Cradle and Indoor Advantage, certifying the sustainable origins of its wood supply had not been a top priority for the company until recently.
According to Kevin Kuske, general manager of Steelcase‘s wood products division, LEED‘s credit for certified wood has driven large growth in client interest in sustainably harvested lumber.
