Green Seal Announces Appliance Standards

Clothes washers, clothes dryers, and dishwashers have joined the growing list of categories for which Green Seal has established its criteria for certification.

Green Seal, a nonprofit environmental labeling organization, certifies products that cause significantly less harm to the environment than common alternatives. Green Seal contracts with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., to test products against environmental claims. Publishing standards is the final step Green Seal must complete before it can begin to certify products, so in the near future consumers can expect to see the Green Seal emblem on some complying appliances.
