Greener MDF
AllGreen® MDF, a new medium-density fiberboard (MDF) product made from 100% post-consumer wood fiber and phenol-formaldehyde binders, is nearing production by The CanFibre Group Ltd. The company’s new Riverside, California plant is continuing to fine tune its production process to improve face characteristics of its standard MDF board. CanFibre is currently shipping shop grade panels or “starter board” and expects to begin shipping product with the AllGreen MDF label in January 2000. When the plant’s ramp-up phase is complete, CanFibre’s selection will also include MR (moisture resistant) and FR (fire resistant) board. Efficiencies with CanFibre’s AllGreen FR production process will allow the company to offer superior quality product at a lower price than that of currently available fire-rated product, according to David Saltman, Vice President, Marketing.
CanFibre is also constructing another North American plant in Lackawanna, New York and has announced plans for plants in Chicago and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
