USGBC Prepares for LEED Homes Pilot

Fortified by a $375,000 grant from The Home Depot Foundation, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is preparing to launch a pilot test of the LEED® for Homes (LEED-H) rating system. Although the rating system itself is currently undergoing a technical review by USGBC committees, regional “Program Providers” have been selected, and the pilot is expected to begin this summer.

In addition to supporting the pilot, the Home Depot Foundation grant provides for a special Initiative for Affordable Housing to facilitate the use of LEED-Homes in that market. The grant also includes a venue at the Greenbuild International Conference to announce The Home Depot Foundation’s inaugural Awards of Excellence for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly.
