There are so many great contractor-related sessions at Greenbuild this year! I doubt I'm alone in trying to choose between sessions.
Is there interest in debriefing with SCLers the week after (say Novemeber 9th at 2pm ET?). We could share the golden nuggets from the sessions we attended, saving everyone from wading through the session... Read more

Instead of endless bounty, climate change is bringing us catastrophic droughts and flooding that now dominate the headlines and threaten entire regions.

Hi everyone,
As you may know the ICC has changed the way the IECC will be written in the future and most of us think that will reduce the stringency of the future energy codes that are the biggest lever in the fight against climate change within the buildings sector.
So one of the best pathways forward is via ASHRAE, which has a... Read more

Hi All,
I will be catching up on learning units over Thanksgiving weekend and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the challenge of credential maintenance of their CPHD? Ideally we would have a client go for Passive House accreditation on a project, but lacking that, how are folks maintaining their 20 credits per year? For... Read more

Hi,
I imagine you've already considered this, but I wanted to mention it before you cross the point of no return...
The name "BIT Building" has the potential to be misunderstood out of context because it sounds like it has something to do with Bitcoin. I don't think this is a huge problem, but you may want to evaluate the risk... Read more

Hi!
I'd love to hear what you all--especially the New Yorkers--think about the newly adopted gas ban. Is this the bill we were hoping to see? Any concerns or questions?
One question I have--maybe just reveals my ignorance--but it seems to leave the door open to steam hookups, which I guess are still an option through much of... Read more

Hi all,
GBD turns 50 this year! I would like to share some examples with leadership of how we can make it more than just an event for clients... something that can give back, engage the public, focus on sustainability, etc. I remember that a Seattle firm had an awesome event that engaged a public plaza, etc. I had read something about it... Hello all,
Could any of you point me out to recent studies showing the health impacts of plastic piping vs. copper piping?
We have a project where NIRON or Aquatherm are proposed as a VE item in lieu of copper. I know there is some studies showing PEX and PVC piping health impacts, but I can't seem to find anything on these 2... Read more

At our SAL call today, folks were talking about how there was just too much to read about DEI. This is the best short summary I have read about the problems of incorporating it into the organizations where we work. It's much easier to talk the talk than to walk the walk because it takes time and accountability.
