AIA Top Ten 2002 Seeks Entries

Submittals are now being accepted for the annual

Top Ten Green Projects competition from The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE), in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE). In past years Committee members have selected the winners, but this year an invited jury will be led by Horst Berger, P.E., a professor at the City University of New York’s School of Architecture; Sim Van der Ryn, AIA, a pioneering environmental architect and planner; and U.K.-based environmental engineer Guy Battle. The jury will evaluate projects based on a broad and inclusive definition of design quality that includes performance, aesthetics, community connection, and stewardship of the natural environment. To qualify, projects must have been completed after 1992. They may be located anywhere in the world but must have been designed by an architect licensed in the United States. The deadline for submittals is March 1, 2002, with a discounted fee available for projects submitted by February 15. For further details, contact Peg Hamil at 202/626-7317 or phamil@aia.org, or look online at
