Dutch Publishers Sued for Suggesting Avoidance of Zinc Roofing

Dutch publishers of a simplified guidebook for choosing environmentally preferable materials are being sued for suggesting that zinc roofing be avoided. An English translation of the book has just been published in the U.K. under the title

Handbook of Sustainable Building (James & James Ltd., March 1996), but will not be distributed in the U.S. for the time being due to concerns about further legal action. Legal concerns have also resulted in the translation of the Dutch phrase “to be avoided” into the English “not recommended” throughout the book.
