Green Product Guides Go Regional

Recycled Products: Construction and IndustrialPortland Metro, 600 NE Grand Ave., Portland, OR 97232-2736; 503/797-1700. No charge for individual orders.

The Sustainable Design Resource Guide: Colorado & the Western Mountain RegionDenver Chapter, Environmental Committee of the AIA and Architects, Designers, and Planners for Social Responsibility. AIA Denver/SDRG, 1660 Wynkoop, Suite 120, Denver, CO 80202. $25 postpaid.

Both of these product directories are organized in the sixteen-division CSI format familiar to architects, and both are directed toward local or regional building professionals. Portland Metro's

Guide has been available for several years, and a third edition is due in October. It focuses exclusively on recycled-content materials, keeping it focused and clear.

The

Sustainable Design Resource Guide is brand new and broader in its focus. Modeled after the Sourcebook

for Sustainable Design (EBN

Vol. 2, No. 1), this

Guide includes informative introductions to each section. At 200+ pages, this book is bulky—a different layout might have saved some paper and shelf space. While we noticed a few minor errors that seem inevitable in any first edition, on the whole this guide is an excellent tool.
