News Brief
Greening of UN Regional Office NA
The
United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) is now working on promoting the use of environmentally sustainable practices, products, and technologies in building systems within the U.N. Among other initiatives, a pilot demonstration project involving the greening of UNEP’s Regional Office for North America is now underway. A coalition of design, development, and consulting companies and organizations are volunteering their time and efforts to this project. Design of the retrofit is now completed, and construction is slated for early 1997, according to UNEP spokesperson Jim Sniffen. Donations of furniture and finishings are still being sought, so there may still be an opportunity for companies wishing to showcase their products in this setting. Those wishing to participate or contribute should contact Harvey Russack of Healthy Properties, LLC at 212/758-1815, 212/758-2065 (fax).
