Jean Vollum Ecotrust Center Earns LEED 2.0
The 70,000 ft2 (6,500 m2) Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center for Ecotrust, a nonprofit organization promoting a conservation economy along North America’s rainforest coast, has achieved a LEED™ Gold rating. It is the first historic renovation project to earn LEED 2.0 certification. Tenants in the facility include Patagonia, the Certified Forest Products Council, and the City of Portland’s Office of Sustainable Development. Restoration of the original 1895 brick-and-timber warehouse includes a green roof, 50 bicycle parking spaces (and shower facilities for cyclists), high-performance windows, an efficient HVAC system, low-flow plumbing fixtures, aggressive construction waste management, and certified wood.
