Metropolitan Forum Project Proposes Smaller Schools

The Metropolitan Forum Project of Los Angeles is seeking to reshape the way the city designs and builds public schools. Instead of huge schools serving 5,000-plus students, the “New Schools, Better Neighborhoods” project is proposing neighborhood-scaled schools serving around 500 students. Along with reducing the extensive public school transportation needs and sprawl associated with very large facilities, these small in-fill neighborhood schools would strengthen communities by providing library, recreation, and performance facilities for the neighborhoods.
