Ray Anderson Receives 1st Argon Award
, CEO of Interface, Inc. and recent co-chair of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development, received the first annual
Argon Award of Excellence in Sustainability on February 7, during the Greenprints 2000 conference in Atlanta. The Argon Award recognizes significant personal and professional contributions to the long-term survival of our fragile island home. The name harkens to argon, an inert gas that has been and always will be in our atmosphere, so that molecules we breathe today were included in the breath of all creatures. The award was presented jointly by Jacoby Development and the Southface Energy Institute. In connection with the award, a Jacoby Fellowship has been created at Southface to help fund research in sustainability for the Atlanta region.
