RIBA-USA Announces Sustainable Communities Design Competition

The Royal Institute of British Architects – U.S.A. (RIBA-USA) recently announced “Building a Sustainable World: Life in the Balance,” an international competition to develop concepts for sustainable communities, from small towns to large urban subdivisions, that respond effectively to predicted shifts in global climate. Although there are no set criteria for the competition, entries should demonstrate a positive environmental impact and the ability to survive as self-sustaining communities. The competition is open to any individual, but each entry must have an accredited architect associated with the design team. Registration for the competition closes on October 1, 2006; completed entries must be received for display by November 1, 2006. For more information, visit www.riba-usa.org/Competitions/index.htm.
