SBIC's "Best Practice" awards
2002 Best Practice Sustainability Awards. Awards were made in five categories—details at www.sbicouncil.org:
•
Sustainable Policy Initiatives:
The Cool Metal Roofing Coalition, a nonprofit organization founded last year to promote the energy-related benefits of metal roofing.
•
Residential Buildings:
Sun Plans Inc., the only house plan company in the country to exclusively market existing designs for passive solar house plans on a national basis.
•
Small Commercial Buildings:
Rural Advancement Foundation International–USA (RAFI-USA) headquarters, Pittsboro, North Carolina.
•
School Buildings:
Radnor Elementary School, Radnor, Pennsylvania.
•
Sustainable Design Curriculum:
Ball State University’s Clustered Minors in Environmentally Sustainable Practices Program, which brings together interdepartmental minors to offer new opportunities for study of environmentally sustainable practices.
