Smart Growth Awards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced the winners of its inaugural

National Award for Smart Growth, in four categories:

•Overall Excellence in Smart Growth: Arlington County, Virginia for its mixed-use, infill Rosslyn-Ballston Metro corridor;

•Built Projects: Town of Breckenridge, Colorado Planning Department for the affordable and market-rate Wellington neighborhood;

•Policies and Regulations: San Mateo County, California for its Transit-Oriented Development Incentive Program;

•Community Outreach and Education: Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs for their statewide smart-growth Community Preservation Initiative.
