Wall Street Journal Announces Technology Innovation Awards

The Wall Street Journal announced the winners of its annual Technology Innovation Awards, honoring HelioVolt Corporation of Austin, Texas, and ETwater Systems, LLC, of Corte Madera, California. HelioVolt, winner of the overall Silver award as well as winner in the Energy and Power category, has developed a thin-film solar photovoltaic technology based on copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) material. The company, which just announced an extension of its research contract with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, hopes to have its material in production by the end of 2006. ETwater Systems, winner in the Environment category, offers a Web-accessible landscape watering control system for both residential and commercial clients. The system, which uses a centralized computer system to monitor weather patterns and watering needs, allows users to tailor their watering needs to the specific plants, slope, and sun exposure of their landscaping.
