Watson and Shaw Win 2005 Evergreen Awards
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has given Evergreen Awards to Watson Furniture Group, based in Poulsbo, Washington, and Shaw Industries, based in Dalton, Georgia, in recognition of their efforts in recycling, reducing waste, and offering environmentally preferable products and services. GSA recognized Watson in the furniture category for using recycled and recyclable materials, and for “pioneering the principles of adjustability, space-efficient shapes, and design for technology before they became standards in the furniture industry.” GSA recognized Shaw, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, in the furnishings category for its use of recycled content and for designing its products to be recycled at the end of their useful life.
