EBN Turns Over a New Leaf
Although it may look the same, the
EBN you hold in your hands—unless you are reading this online or printed it out yourself—is printed on a new (well, sort-of new) paper. New Leaf Opaque, the paper we’ve used since February 2002, is now made from 100% post-consumer recycled material. The prior formulation was 60% post-consumer content, 20% post-industrial content, and 20% virgin paper.
Compared to virgin paper, using New Leaf Opaque for a year of printing
EBN will save approximately 70 trees, more than 30,000 gallons of water, and more than 50 million Btus of energy. It will result in almost 3,400 pounds (1,540 kg) less solid waste, 6,600 pounds (3,000 kg) fewer greenhouse emissions, and 200 pounds (90 kg) less hazardous effluent.
