EZ-Wiring Eight-Wire System Now Available

Electec’s EZ-Wiring—a cost-effective, modular wiring system that is free of halogens and heavy metals (see “Modular EZ-Wiring Eliminates Common Hazards,”

EBN May 2010)—now includes an eight-wire system and is available in the U.S. as well as Canada. The company’s original D-Series, four-wire system was targeted primarily to lighting applications. The new H-Series, eight-wire system better addresses wiring applications for systems furniture, advanced lighting controls, raised-floor (access), and other systems. While Electec does not plan to actively pursue the U.S. market until it has obtained an Underwriters Laboratories mark, the system has earned a “cCSAus” mark indicating the product was tested by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to meet applicable standards in both the U.S. and Canada. This product can be used in the U.S., but the lack of a UL stamp may complicate code inspection in some jurisdictions—designers should investigate before specifying.
