AFH Wins Index Design Award
Architecture for Humanity (AFH) was one of five recipients of the 2005 Index Design Award, honoring the best examples of “design to improve life for vast numbers of people.” AFH was recognized for its work with the Africa Centre for Health and Population Studies in Somkhele, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, to design and build a soccer club that will double as a health outreach center (see

Hundreds of designs were nominated, and 118 were recognized as finalists. “This is truly the little project that could,” said Cameron Sinclair, executive director of AFH, who accepted the award at a Copenhagen, Denmark, ceremony in September 2005. Information about the award is online at www.index2005.dk. AFH is online at www.architectureforhumanity.org.
