USGBC Announces Poster Session Awards

Eighty teams were selected from the submissions to present poster sessions during Greenbuild 2004. These half-hour sessions took place during the lunch breaks on November 10 and 11. Three posters were recognized with Awards of Merit, two tied for Best of Show, and one poster was selected for the People’s Choice award.

Design for Re-Use and Deconstruction, presented by G. Bradley Guy of the Hamer Center for Community Design Assistance at Pennsylvania State University and Lynn Fisher of EHDD Architecture, was given an

Award of Merit.

Harrison Residence, High Performance Straw Bale, presented by David Mar of Tipping, Mar, and Associates, was awarded the second

Award of Merit.

•The final

Award of Merit was given to

Classroom Lighting Guide: Daylighting, Electric Lighting Controls, LCC, and Commissioning, presented by Christine Magar of Southern California Edison, Greg Franta of the ENSAR Group, and Nancy Clanton of Clanton & Associates, Inc.

•One

Best of Show award went to

Gloucester Green, presented by Dan Kaplan and Abigail Carlen of Fox & Fowle Architects.

•A second

Best of Show award was given to

Green Guide for Health Care, presented by Tom Lent of the Healthy Building Network, Robin Guenther of Guenther 5 Architects, Kim Shinn of TLC Engineering, Jamie Harvie of the Institute for a Sustainable Future, and Gail Vittori of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems.

•The

People’s Choice award, selected through conference attendee votes, was also given to

Green Guidelines for Healthcare & the LEED Application Guide for Healthcare.
