Relevance in Scandinavian climate

March 16, 2023

I am living in a country where the highest energy costs are heating, not cooling, our buildings. And where we enjoy the few days in a year, when the sun is warming up courtyards or sidewalks so that you can sit and have a cold beer or a cup of coffee outside.

The efforts to pursue points in this credit does not really make sense.

Does anyone have experience with how this credit is handled in colder parts of the world?

Any practical examples of pollution prevention for a place to fuel vehicles on site, which is not under cover from rain?

Can the Danish tool, LCAbyg, for MR Credit: Building Life-Cycle Impact Reduction be used for a project in Denmark?

LCAbyg is based on EN 15978 and include modules A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B4, B6, C3, C4 and D. It uses either generic data from Ökobau.dat 2020 II og product specific EPD's.

Hi LEEDuser

I have two questions:

1) Can I utilize version 4.1 version of this credit instead of 4.0? It fits better to this project, because no signs are necessary as the no-smoking policy is communicated to occupants of the building and have in place provisions for enforcement.

2) Smoking is not allowed at all bot outside and inside the building. Is it accaptable that the only signs are on the enterance doors? There are no dedicated smoking areas outside, as smoking is not allowed confirming the no-smoking policy.

Green Cars

Green Cars

October 3, 2021

I am a little unsure about how to manage the question regarding green cars in connection of the evaluation and calculation of green transportation LTc1.

In the LT-survey that has already been conducted, we have defined electrical-driven cars in Denmark as green and with a green score of 45 or above. The sold electical vehiles in Danmark have a green score of minimum 2.5 stars based on the latest green ncap rating (https://www.greenncap.com/). It is assumed that this equals to a green score of 45 or above.
Other cars are driven by petrol gasolin and we have considered these not to be green in the LT-calculation.

Is that sufficient details in order to fulfill the required documentation, or do we have to conduct a new survey, or do we need to manage the input from the survey in an other way?

We can also assume that all cars are not green and obtain a good score, since the building is located very sustainable close to public transportation and in the city and there is good possibility for telecommunication in the organisation.

Unfortunately I do not have the car names.

Historical data based

Historical data based

I am able to provide the energy use on a yearly basis of all buildings in Denmark. It is a great statisical investigation, since it is for all buildings buit later than year 2012 and the size is larger than 10.000 m2 in order to be comparable with the building to be certified.

In this connection I am possible to find three numbers, which is the total energy use for heating, water respectively electricity. I will by experience of the usage of typical administration buildings in Denmark estimate the plugin energy use and subtract that from the total energy use in order to find the building related energy use.

Is that an acceptable way to go in order to fulfill the LEED requirement?

I will not have the possibility to show the energy bills since the number of buildings is huge and the data on building level is confidential.

MR-prerequites and criterias

October 7, 2020

I am doing a certication of an office building.

In this connection I would like to know which prerequisites and criterias that includes purchasing food in the calculations? I think it is a little unclear in the LEED Manual.

I would also like to know what kind of food to include. Is i all food including lunch and break fast, or is it only fruit, tee and coffee in the small kitchenettes?

Thank you.

Existing building LEED BD+C og LEED O+M

Existing building LEED BD+C og LEED O+M

July 3, 2019

I am trying to guide a client for LEED  certification. It is for a work-clothes factory with administration, showroom, storage facility etc. The house has been in service for a year now and there are plans for extension of the storage facilities as we speek. I guess a LEED O+M certification is in place but what about the extension to the existing facilities, can it be incorporated in a LEED O+M certification or what are the other options?
